What a commercial DP brings to the job
On a commercial, the director of photography owns everything the camera sees: the lighting plan, the lens choice, the camera movement, and the crew that executes it. On a brand film that means protecting the look the agency sold to the client while staying fast enough to get the day's board shot.
Pete Gill has been shooting commercial and branded work since founding Hundred Films in 2011, for Disney and ABC, Publix, Red Bull, AdventHealth, Ancestry, Coca-Cola, and American Express. Four Emmy Awards came out of that stretch of work.
Broadcast spots, social cutdowns, and everything between
Most commercial jobs now deliver in more than one shape: a broadcast spot, a set of social cutdowns in different aspect ratios, hero product frames, and behind-the-scenes coverage. Planning for that at the lighting stage — rather than cropping your way out of it in post — is most of the job.
Hundred Films owns its camera package, so a job can be quoted with the Arri Alexa 35 Xtreme or Alexa Mini LF, Atlas Mercury anamorphics, and Arri high-speed setups attached, or crewed around whatever the production already has. Pete works with agencies, production companies, and brands directly, and travels from Florida to wherever the shoot is.
